About The Artist
Peter Schaumann is a native of Pennsylvania, and currently resides in Newtown Square. He is a graduate of Philadelphia College of Art, and has been on the faculties of Philadelphia College of Art and Moore College of Art and Design.
Following a distinguished career as a New York illustrator where he was sited for numerous honors and awards, he turned to fine art, figure painting, and portraiture. His work has appeared in many galleries across the United States.
He was the recipient of the First Award of Merit at the 1993 National Portrait Seminar in Atlanta, Georgia and a finalist in the 2000 International Portrait Arts Festival held in New York City, “Select Fifty” for the 2017 Portrait Society of America’s International Portrait Competition, Atlanta, Georgia. Member of the American Society of Portrait Artists.
Portrait Procedure
The portrait is planned by discussing with the client the size, style, and setting, as well as other individual considerations. Work begins with a sitting for photography, as well as sketches and color notes. A color study is completed for client approval. The portrait is then executed and completed. Framing is provided. Commissions usually require six to eight months to complete. Please call for his current schedule.
