About the artist:
Peter Schaumann is a native of Pennsylvania, and currently resides in Newtown Square. He
is a graduate of Philadelphia College of Art, and has been on the faculties of
Philadelphia College of Art and Moore College of Art and Design. Following a
distinguished career as a New York illustrator, where he was sited for numerous
honors and awards, he turned to fine art, figure painting, and portraiture. His
work has appeared in many group and solo exhibitions in museums and galleries
across the United States. He was the recipient of the First Award of Merit at
the 1993 National Portrait Seminar in Atlanta, Georgia and a finalist in the 2000
International Portrait Arts Festival held in New York City.
Member of the American Society of Portrait Artists.

Procedure:
The portrait is planned by discussing with the client the size, style, and
setting, as well as other individual considerations. Work begins with a
sitting for photography, as well as sketches and color notes. A color study
is completed for client approval. The portrait is then executed and
completed. Framing is provided. Commissions
usually require six to eight months to complete. Please call for his current schedule.

April 2002 - HGTV features a portrait of Peter Schaumann’s in a Carleton Varney interior design special.
May 2001 - Main Line Today magazine featured Peter Schaumann’s portraits in their May, 2001 issue.
May 2000 – Peter Schaumann was a Finalist in the 2000 International Portrait Arts Festival held in New York City. His portrait was on display at the National Academy of Design during the duration of the festival.
August 1993 - Peter Schaumann was the recipient of the First Award of Merit at the 1993 National Portrait Seminar in Atlanta, Georgia.
